The last time I visited Castle Law farm was in 2008. I parked my car and went for a walk. When I returned to the car it was surrounded by ambulances and Fire Brigade engines. I asked what was happening and I was told that they were looking for a plane crash. As someone had reported a plane going down!
They said they hadn’t found anything or heard any other reports so they were declaring it a false alarm. I’m not sure whether to be thankful they did not find anything or whether I should be worried that the area is some type of Bermuda triangle where planes disappear.
Although I come to the Pentland hills regularly I’d never been back to the hills at the back of castle law. I’d like to try running them all at some point so I wanted to do these one again so I could familiarize myself with the route.
Nice views over Edinburgh, easy to navigate, good running surfaces.
Lots of parking at Flotterstone but it can get very busy!
A cafe, toilets and a local pub.
Beside the car park.
20% fire road. 50% off road, 30% tarmac
no – there was a lots of sheep in the hills. There was also a lot of other people and other dogs on the route.
